There are these two fish swimming along

The highly respected American author David Foster Wallace committed suicide last week.  Here is a fascinating extract from a speech that he gave.  I love the bit on worship, so so close, yet so so very far away.
enjoy:
There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods [...]

Chucky S

 Spurgeon recounting his conversion

There was a day, as I took my walks abroad, when I came hard by a spot for ever engraven upon my memory, for there I saw this Friend, my best, my only Friend, murdered. I stooped down in sad affright, and looked at Him. I saw that His hands had been [...]

Todd Bentley - marriage breakdown

I guess like me many of you have been watching the events at Lakeland florida unfold over the past few months.  I have met many who have experienced what has been labeled as the ‘healing revival’.  The power of God has clearly been operating in amazing ways.  Yes the doctrine looked a bit weird, and the methods [...]

The train would often stop just outside the station where I would always be drawn to a piece of graffiti written on a nearby wall.  The graffiti read ‘far away is always close at hand in images of elsewhere’.  Quite philosophical for a [...]

The valley of vision

I love the writtings of the Puritans - Here is a prayer taken from The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions, edited by Arthur Bennett

 The Valley of Vision

Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but [...]

Fish Fascist

The task was simple; buy a Goldfish for my 3 year old daughter.
So we made the short walk down to our local pet fish shop which shall remain nameless.  All I wanted was a Goldfish, something simple, the kind of pet that you are happy to buy for a 3 year old girl.
We entered [...]
